S30 Authors Soon after becoming Licenciada in English Philology in Spain, I arrived at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. At first, I believed that my job consisted in explaining grammar rules and exceptions, giving examples, correcting mistakes. Since then, my academic work, my experience teaching, and a growing awareness of the relation between language and sociopolitical issues have proved that language learning and teaching are much more complex and exciting processes. I also want to acknowledge my own positionality as a white European Spanish speaker in the United States. Dicho y hecho brings together my experience, that of my co-author, as well as the multiple perspectives of a large editorial team for a language program that we hope will facilitate teaching and learning while making it a meaningful, enjoyable endeavor. Dedico este trabajo a mis profesores, estudiantes y colegas, de quienes sigo aprendiendo, y especialmente a mis padres, Eusebio y María de los Ángeles, por enseñarme, inspirarme y apoyarme siempre.
