Have them work in pairs, ideally with a partner who has a different home language in order to discern different intonation patterns. Students should listen for intonation in their partners’ sentences. Model differences in intonation again if needed and provide sentences they can repeat with the correct intonation. You may also want to replay the audio for Activity 1 again, as repetition is helpful for ELs. Amplify If students finish Activity 2 early, have them use the information about their classmates to create a mural. They can add flags, a globe, or other visual depictions.
