Project | 203H UNIT 6 Project Living Museum - After studying about great Americans, students will complete this unit by conducting a living museum. Students will choose and research a great American that had an impact in creating our country. Students will write a short speech including important facts about their great American and why that person was so important to our country. Students will dress up as their important person and present to the class as a “living” representation of that great American. Costumes should not be purchased. Instead, students can be creative and use clothing or props they already have. Students will write a speech based on the important facts, events, and achievements of their person. Students will “become” this person, so they will need to write the speech from his or her point of view (using words like I, me, and us). The speech should be one to two minutes in length. Students should attempt to memorize the speech, but can use note cards to read from, if needed. On presentation day, each student will be a “statue” in the class Living Museum. “Statues” will be stationed around the room waiting for guests to walk through the museum. Students will only come to life when their paper button is pressed by a guest. They will then say their speech and return to being a statue until the next person comes along to press their button.
