Project | 163H UNIT 5 Project Mythological Play Students will create a play from a myth they have read or the myth they created in the writing assignment for this unit. Students choose a myth to make into a play. Remind students that a myth is an untrue story that teaches about why things happen in the world and often include a lesson. Before writing, encourage students to draw a picture of their characters and setting to use as a visual aid before writing the dialogue of their play. They can refer back to their visual aid when writing descriptions in their play. Allow students to work with a writing partner in a pre-writing session to discuss what lesson their characters might learn in their story and how their story might end. Provide students with a writer’s checklist of the components they need to include in their drama, such as facts about animals, facts about the habitat (setting), characters, the lesson learned, an ending, etc. Students can act out their drama for the class with their writing partner or put their drama in the classroom library for students to read.
