Sh sounds: ti, si, ci Identify the spelling of the sh sound Write the phonemes sh, ti, si, and ci on the board. Make the gesture for silence (put a finger to your lips and say shh). Have students repeat the sh sound. Say: All these letters make the sh sound. Point to each phoneme and elicit the sh sound from students. Explain that si sometimes makes the sound /zh/, as in television, decision, and occasion. A • Identify the sh sound in -tion words Draw students’ attention to Activity A on Practice Book page 26.
