66 Instructor’s Manual • Lesson Two Section Goal In Recapitulación , students will review the grammar concepts from this lesson. 1 Teaching Tips • To simplify, ask students to identify the infinitive of the verb in each row. • Complete this activity orally as a class. Write each form on the board as students call them out. 1 Expansion Ask students to provide the third-person singu- lar ( Ud./él/ella ) conjugations. 2 Expansion • Ask students to write five more numbers above 31. Have them read the numbers to a partner, who will jot them down. Remind students to check each other’s answers. • To challenge students, have them complete the activity and then say what they can buy with that amount of money. Model the first item for the class. Ex: Con 49 dólares, compro una mochila. 3 Teaching Tips • Remind students that all question words should carry accent marks. • Remind students that verbs in Spanish do not require subject pronouns; they are used for emphasis or clarification. Online Class Tip Encourage students to use the Live Chat tool to meet with a classmate for study group. Ask them to review Lección 2 by going over their answers to the Recapitulación section and asking each other any remaining questions they might have about the Lección 2 material. TEACHING OPTIONS Pairs Have students write ten questions using the interrogative words from Estructura 2.2 to ask their partner about his/her family, house, friends, etc. Remind students that ¿Cuánto/a? and ¿Cuántos/as? should agree with their corresponding nouns. Then have students exchange papers with a classmate and answer the questions. Finally, have pairs work together to review the answers. Have them write sentences using nosotros/as about any items they have in common. Extra Practice On the board, write a list of landmarks (libraries, parks, churches, restaurants, hotels, and so forth) in the community. Have students choose a landmark and write a short paragraph describing its location. Ex: El Hotel Plaza está al lado de la biblioteca. Está cerca de la catedral y delante de Sebastian’s Café. Está lejos de mi casa.
