Have a conversation in which you catch up on things. I CAN ask and answer questions about my daily activities and my activity preferences. 5 Teaching Tips • Give students time to write the list of activities in advance. • Model the activity by talking about your own favorite activities during the week. 6 Teaching Tip To challenge students, make copies of this activity with the text removed so that students can only see the illustrations. Pass out the copies and have students close their books. Write all the verbs of the activity in one list on the board. Tell students to complete the activity using three of the verbs from the board for each drawing. 6 Expansion Ask students to write additional descriptions of the drawings. Ex: La chica estudia arte. Dibuja una casa. Have volunteers share their descriptions with the class. 6 Game Have groups of three students play a game of charades using the verbs given with the pictures. The first student to guess correctly acts out the next charade. 7 Teaching Tip Point out that, in addition to practicing –ar verbs, this activity recycles and reviews material from Lección 1 : greetings, leave- takings, and telling time. Allow students several minutes to plan their conversation before they begin speaking. 7 Partner Chat Available online. TEACHING OPTIONS Extra Practice Have students write a description of themselves made up of activities they like or do not like to do, using sentences containing (no) me gusta… Collect the descriptions and read them aloud. Have the class guess who wrote each description. Game To add a visual aspect to this grammar practice, play Concentración . Choose eight infinitives taught in this section, and write each one on a separate card. On another eight cards, draw or paste a picture that illustrates the action of each infinitive. Randomly place the cards facedown in four rows of four. Play with even-numbered groups of students. In pairs, students select two cards. If the two cards match, the pair keeps them. If the cards do not match, students return them to their original position. The pair that finishes with the most cards wins.
