Portales - PROGRAM SAMPLER
En pantalla En pantalla presents TV clips from around the Spanish-speaking world connected to the language, vocabulary, and theme of the lesson. These clips include commercials, newscasts, short films, and TV shows. Through scaffolded comprehension activities, students build confidence as they realize they can understand authentic language. Using En pantalla and Flash cultura in the classroom • Pre-viewing: Prepare students for the video segment by activating prior knowledge. For example, ask students to read the segment’s title and have them guess what the video segment might be about. You can then prompt students to make a list of the lesson vocabulary they expect to hear in the segment. Introduction paragraphs (in English through Lesson 6) set the context for the authentic TV clips. Use the comprehension questions (with suggested answers) to check students’ understanding. Teaching Options Language Notes offer insight into regional or colloquial language used in the TV clips that you can use to help students decipher authentic media. Antes de ver guides students as they prepare to watch the clip.
