Then have them read the next title in the same way. ✦ SCAFFOLD Annotate a copy of each title to include marks for phrasing. Have students use the annotated copies as they work with a proficient partner. Daily Writing Ask students to imagine what happens next in When Will We Take Off? Ask: Where do you think the girl and her father are going? What do you think they’ll do when they get there? Prompt students to write a paragraph to tell about the girl’s trip and what happens next. Challenge them to use as many spelling words in their writing as they can. ✷ ASSESS AND RETEACH Assess Ask students to write snake, where, and change . Reteach Have students compare any misspelled words to the correct spellings. Guide them to identify the letters they missed and rewrite the words using colored markers and capital letters for those letters.
