dicho y hecho - PROGRAM SAMPLER

116 • CAPÍTULO 4 DICHO Y HECHO PARA ESCRIBIR: Comer en la universidad In this section you will be able to choose among different writing options in order to describe your experiences eating on campus. You will choose one of the audiences below. ESTRATEGIA DE REDACCIÓN Consider audience and context The audience (who you are writing for) and the context of writing (e.g., letter, e-mail, essay, etc.) determine to a great extent the content, form, and type of language you should use. For instance, if you are writing about your first weeks in college to your freshman advisor, the content, form and level of formality will be different from what you would write to your best friend or relative. Paso 1. You will describe your eating experiences on your campus. In small groups, discuss how this composition would be different if you were writing for the following audiences. Consider: • Purpose: What would be your goal in each of the following situations? Can you think of examples of how such purposes may affect your composition? • Content: What would be the message that you are trying to convey? What type of in- formation would be appropriate in each case? Can you think of anything that might be appropriate for one of the contexts and not for another? • Writing format: How are the three types of writings described differently in what we expect them to contain? • Tone: Would the language in each be formal or informal? What would the tone of each be like? ANTES DE ESCRIBIR Purpose Content Writing format Tone An e-mail to your uncle, who often sends you money for school An article for the student newspaper A report requested by the Director of Dining Services, to assess student satisfaction with campus dining options
