Pause at strategic points and explain using the Useful Vocabulary. Once students are able to retell the events, have them work together to answer the questions. Amplify Tell students to write a sequel to Dust Buddies. Have students choose a new problem for the Dust Buddies to solve together. Remind students to include characters and a setting, and to make sure the problem and solution are clear. Give students a chance to present their stories to peers once they are complete. They live peacefully under a couch. When an evil maid comes to clean the house, she sucks one dust bunny into her vacuum. The other dust bunny comes to the rescue. Viewing strategy: Watch for the Problem and Solution • Discuss the strategy Review the terms problem and solution with students. Then read aloud the viewing strategy. • Build vocabulary Use the vocabulary routine to introduce the Useful Vocabulary. Then explain that dust that gathers under furniture is called “dust bunnies.” Connect it to the title of the video. Clarify that buddies means friends. Before Viewing Activate prior knowledge Clarify unfamiliar terms in the questions. Then give small groups time to discuss their answers. ANSWERS Sample answers: 1.
