Make sure children pronounce the words fully, including the ending sounds. • Match key words to pictures Next, have children look at the pictures. Ask: What are these pictures of? Elicit that they are pictures of the key words. Have children listen again and point to the pictures as they hear the key words. B Answer questions about key details Point out that children can find the answers to these questions directly in the text. Guide them to identify key words in the question and then find the matching word in the text. For example, read aloud question 1: What season is rainy? Ask: What is the key word in this question? (rainy) Now, find the word rainy in the text. Help children understand that identifying and matching key words can help them find information.
